Thoughts from the Top – Valerie Freeman, Imprimis Group CEO

My alma mater, University of Houston, has been headed for the last few years by Dr. Renu Khator, with the official dual titles of Chancellor of the University of Houston System and President of the University of Houston. Dr. Khator was hired in 2007 and today is considered one of the foremost higher education leaders. As Chancellor, she oversees an organization that serves more than 66,000 students on four campuses with a $1.3 billion budget.

The University of Houston became a top research university last year, earning Tier One designation from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The university was also named one of America’s Best Colleges for Undergraduates by the Princeton Review.  She is serving on the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and will assume the Chairmanship of the Board of Directors next year. It was a pleasure to meet and speak with such an accomplished and intelligent woman.
