N Power Event

Last night I attended, along with other folks in the tech community, the NPower benefit concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center, with special performance by Terence Blanchard.  BravoTECH was an event sponsor as we  believe in supporting the technology community and especially STEM education initiatives.  NPower is one of those initiatives – mobilizing the tech community and providing individuals, nonprofits, and schools opportunities to build tech skills and achieve their potential.  Technology Service Corps builds brighter futures for underserved veterans and young adults by providing free technology and professional skills training, mentoring, internships and employment services.

Although founded in New York City in 2002, NPower North Texas serves over 100 veterans per year and growing.  Stephanie Cuskley, NPower CEO, says “We salute the service of all our North Texas-based veterans and believe that any organization they join becomes stronger because of the unique experiences and leadership qualities our Technology Service Corps graduates bring to the workforce.”

Last night’s benefit concert was the first public performance in Dallas by Terence Blanchard, who is one of the most influential jazz musicians and film score masters of  his generation. He is a Grammy Award-winning trumpeter who has partnered with NPower for the last three years.

Event host, Robert Dixon, PepsiCo Senior Vice President and Global CIO, stated “Everyone wants to see veterans succeed professionally when they return to our communities.  Expanding the NPower Dallas program addresses a critical demand for technology training in our communities.”
